Tango & Mental Well-being: Connection, Listening and Community

6 juni 2026, 18.00 - 21.00 uur

Wat

An accessible evening where science, art and lived experience meet through Argentine tango.
The session will begin with a short introduction to recent research exploring tango and dance in relation to mental well-being, Parkinson’s disease, cognitive health, dementia care, balance, body awareness and social connection. Simple flyers will be available with key information and references, so participants can take something home and continue exploring the topic.
The evening will also create a relaxed space for exchange between tango dancers and people who are new to tango. Dancers from the tango community will be invited to share their personal experiences: how tango has influenced their mood, confidence, connection with others, body awareness or sense of belonging.
Through conversation, guiding questions and simple movement, we will explore tango beyond the steps: as a practice of listening, presence, connection and community.
No dance experience or partner is needed. Everyone is welcome to listen, ask questions, move, observe or simply enjoy the music.
The session may close with an informal open floor, where participants can try a few tango steps, watch, ask questions, or experience the atmosphere of social tango in a warm and welcoming way.
Language: English
Level: Open to all levels
What to bring: Comfortable clothes and an open mind
